ACT-IR3S+Kit FAQs

Equipment Needed
Your ACT-IR3S+ kit, containing these items:

• 1 - ACTiSYS IR Wireless Device (IR3S+)
• 2 - Beige DB25 Male to Male Serial Cable (Part number 22028)
• 1 - Gray ACTiSYS cable
• 1 - Beige A/B Switch Box (Part number 885028)

Your existing equipment, specifically:

• 1 parallel printer cable (use the one currently connecting your PC and printer)

Instructions
Check the diagram at left to match each step number to the illustration:

Step 1. Disconnect your existing printer cable from your PC, leaving it attached to your printer. Connect the other end to the port labelled COM on the beige A/B Switch Box (Part number 885028).

Step 2. Using either of the beige serial cables from your ACT-IR3S+Kit, connect the "A" slot of the A/B Switch Box to the Parallel port of your PC. (The Parallel port is the port where your printer was attached.)

Step 3. Using the remaining beige serial cable, connect the "B" slot of the A/B Switch Box to the "PRINTER" slot in the black IR3S+ device.

Step 4. Using the gray ACTiSYS cable from your ACT-IR3S+Kit, connect the Serial port on your PC to the "COMPUTER" slot of the black IR3S+ device. (The Serial port is the port with either 9 or 25 pins. If your serial port has 9 pins, you will need a 9-to-25 pin adaptor to connect the cable.)

Your Zaurus will communicate with the printer and PC via the IR3S+ device's infrared interface, so no cable connection is needed for the Zaurus.
